ZESST takes part in the SDG Challenge in Kobe, Japan

SDG challenge 2022 participants

In mid-November 2022 we enjoyed taking part in the SDG Challenge held in Kobe, Japan – an accelerator for Japanese and international start-ups which are working to tackle one of more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in various ways.

Japan is a high-tech society which is doing a lot in the field of sustainability and green innovations, and a trendsetter for the Asian market. As such, it’s one of our favorite and most promising partners and we’re happy to have established contacts with different institutions and private actors from Japan.

Japan is leading the way in sustainability promotion

Japan is also very active in the emerging hydrogen ecosystem. Japanese Toshiba led the launch in 2020 of the Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field, better known as FH2R. This is today’s largest hydrogen production plant, which uses solar power to produce green hydrogen for industrial use, including in transportation.

Turning to the future, the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka will be the perfect venue for ZESST to showcase our disruptive, ecological and silent modular shuttle for up to 400 passengers – ZESST Pax hydrogen powered maritime ferries.

In the meantime, we will be busy working hard with our Japanese partners to perfect existing concepts and engineer more of the innovative ecological transportation solutions, and we are excited for what is to come!
